Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Iguana | Male

My iguana's finger looks a bit swollen Heli's finger is already like that for quite a long time. I'm not sure if it is something to worry about, but can you tell me what it is? Also, not sure if this information in relevant or anything. There is a missing claw/nail on one of Heli's finger.

Missing nails are common and usually due to being caught or snagged on perches, branches or carpeting. Once healed, they cause no problems. The swollen toe may be due to injury or a bit of skin/shed that is constricting the digit. Soak him in a warm bath to help soften and remove any shed. If the swelling worsens, have him seen by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles.
