Did feeding chicken and rice make my dog sick or cause her death?

I had to lay my poor pup to rest yesterday. Her name was Lilly and she was almost 15 (lab). About a month ago she became ill with throwing up and diarrhea. We went to the vet and gave her iv fluids antibiotics and anti nausea...vet said feed her chicken and rice...she got better for about a month until this past Monday, she started pooping blood and babe and very weak. I just want to make sure I didn’t make her sick or kill her by feeding her just chicken and rice for 4 weeks.
