Why isn't my dog going to the bathroom after acid reflux meds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 40 lbs

We just went to the vet today because of our dog puking, and before this not wanting to eat for a couple days. They believe it is acid reflux and she was given anti nausea medicine and acid reflux tablets. While sitting here with her tonight I just realized she hasn’t tried to go outside to use the bathroom since this morning. Usually she is ringing the potty bell all day to go outside. She went this morning, went after at her appointment and hasn’t gone since.

If she hasn't been eating or drinking properly for a couple of days she may not need to go as frequently as normal. Try to encourage frequent small meals and drinks and continue to monitor for any escalating symptoms
