Can I give my puppy Cetirizine or Loratadine for an allergic reaction?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Labrador | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 20 days old | 37 lbs

My 4 month old puppy woke up with a the bridge of her nose swollen and her eye lids are slightly swollen, i'm worried she may be having an allergic reaction to something. If it looks like an allergy the only antihistamines I have in is Piriteze which each tablet is 10mg of Cetirizine Hydrochloride and another store brand that has 10mg loratadine in it. would any of these be suitable?

Yes, you can use either one of those antihistamines. For loratidine you can give 10mg (1 tablet) for Cetirizine you can give 20mg (2 tablets). If after one dose she is not better you should have Bonnie examined by your vet.
