My Yorkie has neck lumps after Lyme treatment. What could it be?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | 11 years old | 10.8 lbs

I have a 10 lb yorkie at 11 years old. She was diagnosed with Lymes on Dec 7. The vet put her on Doxycycline 50mg once daily for one month. Her creatine and bun #s were high. She is feeling much better, however has developed large lumps on both sides of her neck glands.

It sounds like her submandibular lymph nodes are enlarged. That is not normal. It may or may not be related to the Lyme disease. It is best to have your vet recheck her. Elevated BUN and Crea can indicate kidney disease so that needs to be monitored and she should probably be eating a special kidney-friendly diet. Speak to your vet more about this.
