Why is my old dog suddenly sick, weak, not eating, and leaking fluid?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Puggle | Female | unspayed | 12 years and 4 months old | 15 lbs

I have a 13 year old puggle female. Starting yesterday morning her behavior changed. She doesn't want to leave her bed, go outside or eat anything. She drinks a little bit of water and also leaked fluid yesterday afternoon. She seems weak and breathing is weird. What should I do? Is my dog dying?

Any continued abnormal symptoms (longer than 24 hours) warrants a vet exam. I cannot tell you what is wrong with her just by your description. There are many different things that could be causing her symptoms. Those symptoms are very vague and could be caused by any illness or disease process. I can tell you that you need to be diligent getting weird symptoms checked out especially with an older dog. Please get her a vet exam as soon as you can. They may recommend running some lab tests and/or x-rays.
