Cat's leg X-rays are clear, but she's still in pain. Is buprenorphine enough?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 10 months old | 9.5 lbs

My cat seemed to hurt her leg somehow this morning and was growling/hissing/didn’t want food. Vet sedated her to X-ray/examine. Said nothing broken and felt alright she may have just sprained. She has buprenorphine for pain next few days. Do her x rays indeed look normal and ok from what can be seen in X-ray? No swelling, but definitely still painful as initial drugs wore off at home. Just gave tonight’s oral buprenorphine dose

Hi, there is no evidence of any fractures on the pictures of these X-rays. Is Echo on any antinflammatories ? I often find cat bites can be painful even when superficial, is Echo allowed outside ? As this is all recent, it is likely that you need to give Echo some time to get better. Within 3-4 days with rest, pain relief she should go back to her normal self. If Buprenorphine is helping but just for a short period of time, I would enquire about having additional pain relief in terms of antinflammatories . This is provided that Echo is otherways healthy and does not have any other health concerns. Hope she gets better soon !
