Why does my cat always sleep under blankets or in dark spots?

Im curious, during the day my cat likes to sleep under a blanket or something that will make it dark. Is that normal ? He has been doing that for the past year now, my one other cat likes to sometimes but she doesn't do it all the time like he does. When I'm home he likes to be by me and be under the blanket with me, if I'm not under a blanket he will try and get into my hoodie. Im just very curious if this is normal for some cats. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 8 years and 9 months old
