My dog's eye got poked. Is it conjunctivitis? How long to heal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | 4 years and 2 months old

My finger by mistake while playing got little poked into my dog eye and when I came from work I found he has little swell at eyelid down one for which when I consult vet he prescribed moxicip eye drops thrice a day so is that become a conjunctivitis or what and how many days will it take to clear up ?? Can my poked finger to his eye cause conjunctivitis or it is normal infection or what ? You can see very slight swelling in lower eye lid from where tears come out

Being poked in the eye can cause eye irritation, yes. If the meds are not helping or the eye is getting worse, it would be best to bring Danny into your vet to have the eye examined for more serious infection or scratches to the cornea caused by the poke.
