Why are there black, scabbed bumps on my 13-year-old Cockapoo's back?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cockapoo | Male | neutered | 13 years and 2 months old | 18 lbs

Should I be concerned about my 13 year old Cockapoos black bumps on his back? Wasn't concerned till one became a raised bump and scabbed over. Otherwise, he is a very healthy dog.

The skin does look a bit irritated. If the scabs aren't healing, more appear, the area is very itchy or bothersome to Teddy, or it changes more in appearance, a vet visit is best to rule out issues such as infections, growths, allergies, etc. Keeping it clean and dry and keeping Teddy from pawing/licking at it can also help reduce irritation as it heals.
