My dog eats everything! Why does he eat paper and other non-food?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | 2 years and 2 months old | 79 lbs

My 2 year old dog trapper like to eat anything it doesnt have to smell like food he just grabs it and eats it he likes go eat wrapping paper we have to watch him closely or he will swallow it and then he poops out paper strands but we cant seem to stop him from finding things that he shouldnt be eating why isnhe doing this?

It would be hard to say why he is doing this. Many dogs do though and are chewers, or get in to trash for paper or Kleenex, etc. If he is doing those things, make sure he is confined to one room and keep those things out of reach. Crate train him of necessary

    Congratulations on having a puppy! Unfortunately this is not uncommon puppy behavior. Occasionally we can have pica (ingestion of abnormal items) as a result of intestinal parasites or dietary deficiency so if your pup hasn’t had a stool checked for parasites I would recommend that as well as checking with your vet to be sure Your puppy’s diet is adequate. Otherwise unfortunately you just have to be persistent in going bing your dog items that are ok to chew (such as a Kong filled with food), keeping him restricted when not supervised and teaching the “leave it “ command.
