My dog is limping after the dog park but doesn't seem to be in pain.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Male | neutered | 3 years and 10 months old | 34 lbs

My dog won’t put his leg down for a day now. He was playing at the dog park and never cried or winced or anything but when we left he was limping and has not stopped since. Not swollen, doesn’t appear to be in pain, can straighten and bend it but lays down all day and won’t walk on it. I do not want to get treatment if it’s just a strain and he needs rest. Help!

If he is laying down all the time and won't put his leg down, I can assure you he is in pain. I would recommend taking Sammy to the vet. He needs a thorough physical exam to determine where the issues could be coming from. X-rays may be needed to rule out fractures.
