Cat diarrhea with white, segmented things. Could it be tapeworms?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 5 lbs

My cat has had diarrhea for two weeks. I found something on a small spot of diarrhea I’d found on a blanket of mine that was about an inch long and white/clear. It has small sections but does not quite look like small worms I have seen in pictures online

This is a tapeworm. They get tapeworms by eating infected fleas. So, not only do you have to treat her for the tapeworms you also need to get the fleas under control. ( https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/tapeworm-infection-in-cats )

If there are white objects sticking out of your cat's behind, it does sound like she has worms. I would get a deworming treatment for her, I recommend Panacur. You can get that OTC. Give her a dose now, then another treatment of it in two weeks. After that, she should be dewormed every three months to prevent them from occurring again.
