My dog keeps throwing up, suspected IBD. What's the next step?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Female | spayed | 1 year and 3 months old | 8.5 lbs

My dog has had chronic vomiting for awhile. She normally throws up in her kennel when I am at work between 8-4. My vet thinks it is IBD. She is scheduled for a biopsy on Friday. All blood work has came back normal. Switched her to royal Canin HP in December and she had no vomiting for 5 weeks. Now it seems like she vomits close to every other day. Any second opinions?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Patsy. Has she had an abdominal ultrasound yet? I will typically recommend this as well as a gastrointestinal specific blood panel prior to biopsies. I assess cobalamin and folate levels as well pancreatic values such as TLI and PLI. These results can help to guide treatment. I hope this information helps!
