In the wild, cats eat anywhere for 9-16 times a day. That means their metabolisms are geared to run at all times. I recommend to feed 4 - 6 small meals a day. The amount to feed is based upon the calories in the diet and your cat's body condition score: https://www.petcoach.co/article/how-do-i-determine-if-my-cat-is-overweight/ Stick with good brands like Royal Canin or Purina ProPlan. Most adult cats eat between 0.5 - 1 cup a day. An indoor adult food may be a good option as it is lower calorie than normal food. I hope this helps.

Mars sounds like a busy guy! I bet he's fun to have around! So in the wild, cats eat 9-16 times a day. Their metabolism is geared to run constantly so feeding only 1-2 meals a day may actually predispose Max to becoming more heavy. I recommend to measure out the appropriate amount of food (most cats eat between 3/4 to one cup total a day) and periodically feed him. My own cats eat between 4-6 meals a day depending on my work schedule.
