My old dog has a bleeding eye wart. Can it be treated without surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 9 years and 6 months old | 110 lbs

My pet, a golden retriever, aged 10 is having a wart on her left eye and it bleeds often. Doctors said she cannot be given anesthesia too because she's having an enlarged heart and has undergone a surgery. What can be done to cure her?

I would ask your veterinarian about the option to freeze the wart off. it is small enough that it may work. However, working near the eye with the freezing solution is risky because the freezing solution could go into the eye and that would be bad. There are cotton swabs you can freeze and then apply the cotton swab to the wart and see if a few treatments with this would help shrink the mass down in size. Unfortunately, surgical removal is typically the best way to get rid of these masses. I hope this helps!
