My cat doesn't groom herself after litter. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My cat doesn’t clean herself after using the litter, and instead runs to play around the house. One time she had poop stuck in between her toes and she just went and ran around the house. Even after peeing she goes to play. :(

It could be that your cat never learned to clean herself as a kitten, or just doesn't realize she has stuff stuck to her fur. Longer haired cats can also get things stuck easily. Keeping the area trimmed and wiping down her bottom with a pet wipe or baby wipe can help keep her cleaner.
