My dog won't eat after heart meds, should I adjust the dosage?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 17 lbs

Terrier mix was put on Vetmedin, lasix, & enacard 10 days ago. He is more energetic but has refused to eat anything for 3 days. Vet said to discontinue all 3 meds and see if he perks up. Said he might have to take them every other day. Does that make sense? (He was weaker and semi-fainting but not losing consciousness prior to the start of the heart meds.)

Yes, sometimes it's best to gradually build up the medications so the body gets used to them. Ideally Benny will work up to taking them all full strength every day. You may ask your veterinarian about their protocol to get this accomplished. I hope this helps.
