How do I stop my puppy from eating mulch and sticks in the yard?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 6 days old

When I let my puppies out to use the bathroom they go to my mulch bed and try to eat the sticks and random stuff of the ground. I try to prevent them from swallowing it by opening there mouth and taking it out. How do I stop this behavior. It gets annoying

Puppies are curious, so they will explore anything and everything with their mouths. Your best option is to restrict access to the mulch beds. Fence off an area for them to use for elimination. Make sure it is free of sticks, rocks, etc. before you let them out.
