My dog has growing skin sores. Could it be cancer, not just allergies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Bulldog | Male | neutered | 140 lbs

Our American bulldog keeps getting these sores, our local vet has been useless in helping, I think it looks like skin cancer from online searches but I’m not a doctor, what do you think? They are getting bigger and more frequent, they keep insisting it’s allergies and giving him steroids and it’s doing nothing

That looks pretty deep. I would be suspicious of skin cancer or an autoimmune problem. If it is allergies, they are severe. I recommend to get a second opinion. A biopsy may be the next best step to figure out what this is and how to fix it. I hope this helps.
