My senior dog is blind, deaf, declining. Is it time for euthanasia?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Male | neutered | 20 years and 9 months old | 25 lbs

My cocker spaniel/chihuahua is around 21 years old, blind, deaf and runs into things. He sits and stares at the wall and can’t hear if I walk by. He does eat, but I have to put food directly up to his mouth. Should he be put down?

I am so sorry to hear that PeeWee is not well. At the end of the day, it is all about quality of life. If you think his quality of life is not good then yes, humane euthanasia should be considered.
