My mother rat isn't in the nest. Are her babies abandoned or dead?

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rat | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 11 days old | 0.5 lbs

My mother rat coco is not in the nest shes more frequently then not outside roaming the cage or sleeping in an igloo and I no longer hear her babies screaming are they possibly dead or is she abandoning them?

I don't know but you need to check on them, if they are dead you need to remove them from there, if they are alive but she isn't taking care of them you need to feed them with a special bottle used for kittens and kitten milk replacer, you can find those in most pet shops.
