Why does my cat have a small red pimple-like bump near his eye?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 8 years and 7 months old

My cat has what looks like a small red pimple just after the line from his tear duct ends. He doesn't seem bothered by it when I touch it. He has a cataract on his other eye.

That could be something like an infected pore or ingrown hair most likely. His tear duct is on the inside of his eye lid so you don't have to worry about that. Less common, that lesion could represent a wound or the beginning of a skin tumor. I recommend to monitor the area closely. Protect it from rubbing and Jeffrey should wear an elizabethan collar if he wants to rub at it. If the lesion is still present in 2 weeks, have him examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps.
