My dog's lump fell off. Is a vet visit necessary if she's fine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 7 years and 1 month old | 9 lbs

This used to be a lump on my dog’s back and she picked on it and it fell off. She’s not bleeding and I cleaned the area where it used to be, but now what? Do I take her to the vet or do I take the lump to the vet or I just leave it like that? She seems fine, she’s not acting different or anything else. The lump is about 1/2gram in size.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Maia. The mass may have been a cyst that ruptured and then came off. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian to ensure the wound site is not infected. Do not allow her to scratch or lick the area in the meantime if possible. I hope this information helps!
