My cat has blood from her rear and a strong smell. Is it serious?

Hi there! So I've noticed my cat leaves small traces (like small drops) of blood from her rear end.. and also has a very strong smell from her behind every once in a while. Is there a reason to rush to the vet? Is it dangerous? What are the risks?

I don't see anything outwardly abnormal from these photos. The blood is usually from straining to defecate but it could also be from rectal polyps, issues with the anal glands, inflammatory bowel disease or intestinal parasites. It is not an emergency but I suggest you have her examined by your vet in the next couple days.

Blood is never normal. I recommend to have Misty examined by the veterinarian. Make sure to bring in a fresh stool sample. There could be many causes ranging from parasites to ulcers to low platelet numbers. Play it safe and have her checked out.
