My parrot is sick, not eating, and has white poop. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Parrot | Male | 2 years old

I have 2 alexandrine parrots . One of which who is usually super active seems ill to me today. He is not active , not talking and closing his eyes every now and then Also his excreta is not normal , it's totally white today ( which is green and lumpy in normal days) I don't know what to do. There is no bird doctor locally . The local vet gave me anti diarrhoeal solution ( which is for dogs) and told to give 2 drops thrice a day. Please help me.

Thanks for reaching out and including a photo. This is not diarrhea but a lack of feces, and only consists of urates, so he is not eating. Providing heat support in the 80-85 F range can give aid. A veterinary visit is needed to provide some diagnostics (radiographs, blood work) to determine a diagnosis and then treatment plan. Start syringe feeding as soon as possible. Good luck.
