My dog was hit by a car and can't walk. What injuries are possible?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Lhasa Apso | Female | spayed | 1 year and 10 months old | 12 lbs

I work oversees in Africa I have a little dog that was hit by a car today. The vet says that she does not have any broken bones or internal bleeding ( they did an ultrasound and palpated for fractures). But she cannot walk and can only skittle across the floor with her legs spread out to get to place where she can hide. No one can touch her leg. There appears to be some blood coming from her vagina (she is fixed). She is obviously in terrible pain and is experiencing trauma. Please advise.

Poor kebbi. I would be very concerned about possible spinal or pelvic injury, especially with the amount of bruising and inability to stand. Xrays would be recommended to determine the extent of any bone injury, alongside pain relief and antiinflammatory meds to reduce swelling around the affected area which can lead reduced nerve function
