My cat still has crystals and ammonia smell on Hills food. What now?

My 9yo female has had crystals in the past (on and off for a couple years). She’s been on the prescribed hills urinary food for months now but her pee pad still has crystal and smells like ammonia. Is there anything else I can do to help her? Are there any treats or other urinary food that would work better than hills? Our vet had said food was the only way to stop crystals, but I will take any suggestions as I want to help her-all else has been normal with her habits (eating and drinking). These options may be better for her if the current diet is not helping the crystals. This should be verified by frequent urine examinations. Adding more moisture to her diet through water or canned food will help dilute her urine. This will help as well. I hope this information helps!
