My dog's rabies shot lump returned. Should I take her to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rat Terrier | Female | spayed | 10.4 lbs

My rat terrier chihuahua got her 3 year rabies shot on Feb 1 and developed a huge hard lump. I took her back to the vet on feb 8th where I was told she had a reaction and they drained the lump + gave her pain medication and an antibiotic. Today is feb 9 and the lump seemed to return but not as big. Should I be worried/take her back to the vet? I plan on doing it on Sunday after a few more days of her medicine or should I take her sooner? No diarrhea or vomiting

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Tan. If she is otherwise acting normal, then I would continue your medications as directed by the veterinarian. I recommend contacting her veterinarian tomorrow though with an update of her condition. They will let you know if you need to come back or if you can keep treating her. It typically takes a few days for medication to start working. I hope this information helps!
