Why is my dog suddenly shaky, hiding, not eating or drinking?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Multi-Colored Standard Poodle | Male | neutered | 4 years and 11 months old | 18 lbs

Yesterday morning my dog woke up fine. He went out and was his usual self. At noon I left him alone for about 3 hrs for a family matter and when I returned he was different. He was really shaky, he'd squeal when he jumped and he hid under the table. He didn't want to eat and looked very anxious. Afterwards I bathed him as usual and he relaxed on the bed but still didn't want to eat. Throughout the night he hid under my bed and whined. This morning he ate but he's still sluggish, hasn't had water

Poor guy. Since his symptoms are pretty vague and could mean just about anything. I would certainly have him examined by your vet soon. If his gums are pale, then this is an emergency and he should be seen by an ER vet right away. IT sounds like he could have ingested something that is affecting his whole body or he could have an internal organ system problem. I do hope that your pet Spot is going to be ok moving forward. Best of luck moving forward and take care.
