My cat has a nose bump and is losing fur. When should she see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed

My Tuxedo cat has a bump on the front portion of her nose. She has also lost some hair and whiskers with some patchy skin showing in the areas hair was lost. She hasn’t been scratching or excessively grooming the bump or the areas where hair was lost which comforts me a little bit. Please advise me on what actions I should take next, should I give it more time, go to the vet... etc. Thank you!

I recommend to go to the veterinarian. Losing fur is not normal and may indicate something like ringworm (which humans can get), allergies, infection or skin mites. I'm not sure what the bump may signify but your vet will get a better idea from an exam. I hope this helps.
