Why is my cat running with mouth open, tongue out, and hissing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | spayed | 2 years old | 4.41 lbs

Hello, All of a sudden Skye started running every where with her mouth open and tongue sticking out. I tried to pet her once she sat on her condo but she didn't let me and she hissed at me (she's never done that before) she eats wet and dry food, drinks well, she's indoor only her immunizations are up to date, no changes in the home environment. Any ideas why she's acting like that? Should I be concerned? Thank you!

That sounds odd. Cats don't normally act like this. I am concerned she is distressed, is experiencing pain in her mouth or is experienced altered mentation. Since she can't talk and tell you what is happening, I recommend to have her examined right away. An exam is needed to begin narrowing down the potential causes. I hope this helps.
