My cat has a spot on her eyeball. Is it serious if she's not bothered?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 10 years and 9 months old | 8 lbs

Hello Our 11 year old cat Bella has what appears to be something on her eyeball. She is not showing any signs of it bothering her. We just noticed it this evening. Her eye is not swollen, no watering, she has not tried to scratch it, or keep it closed. Mainly we just want to make sure it’s nothing serious. The area on the eyeball is fixed and doesn’t move around the eye.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Bella. Yes, I see what you mean about her eye. That looks like it could be an ulcer. Any eye problem has to be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I'd take her into a vet now. Best of luck.
