My cat has a spot on her eyeball. Is it serious if she's not bothered?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 10 years and 9 months old | 8 lbs

Hello Our 11 year old cat Bella has what appears to be something on her eyeball. She is not showing any signs of it bothering her. We just noticed it this evening. Her eye is not swollen, no watering, she has not tried to scratch it, or keep it closed. Mainly we just want to make sure it’s nothing serious. The area on the eyeball is fixed and doesn’t move around the eye.

Any eye problem has to be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I'd take her into a vet now. Best of luck.

What a beautiful face! It almost looks like this might simply be an "eye booger," so blink her eyes and see if it moves. If it moves, you can use a wet cotton ball and wipe her eye, this should wipe it away. If its not moving when she blinks, and its adhered to the cornea (front surface of the eye), as long as she isn't pawing at it or squinting like she's painful and as long as she's otherwise acting normally, just make an appointment at your convenience. If it seems to bothering her, though, get her in more urgently. If she's pawing at it at all, put an Ecollar on her to prevent her from causing damage to her eye. Female cat has a blurry spot on eye. It was been there for a few days and hasn't gone away. No bruising or different behavior from cat.
Thank you for visiting Boop by Petco. A blurry spot can mean that you pet either has a scar on the cornea or it could indicate a corneal ulcer, depending on how this looks. There is also the potential it could be nuclear sclerosis, if it is a deeper opacity that you are seeing. Please submit a photo of the eye in question for clarification on what this likely is, or have your vet do a physical exam to confirm. If it is a corneal ulcer, it needs to be confirmed with an eye test through your veterinarian and then treated with medication. Corneal ulcers however cause excessive blinking and eye discharge. Nuclear sclerosis is common in older cats, and I'm not sure how old your cat is, but they don't require any treatment.. And corneal scars are basically scarring from a previous corneal injury, which typically are permanent and don't require treatment. I wish you the best moving forward with your fur baby. Take care.

My kitten keeps squinting her eye and it looks slightly glazed over.
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Bella. She will need to see a veterinarian. She may have a scratch across the surface of her eye known as a corneal ulcer. This is common with a certain type of eye infection in kittens. A drop of dye will be placed on her eye to look for a defect. Based on these results, treatment can be prescribed. Should I be worried about this white spot a little under and above my cat’s eye? I just noticed it today. She doesn’t seem to be in pain and not bothering her.
Hello and thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. It could be a scratch (or other form of trauma) to the eyelids. If it is not bothering Fergie and she is acting as normal, you should monitor her at home for now. However, if she scratches the area excessively or the eyelids become swollen or painful, you should take your cat to your local vets for an appointment.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! It looks like just minor hair loss. This could be from rubbing her eyes (allergies or irritation maybe?) or if she accidentally rubbed too hard against something. If you notice hair loss in other places too, or if you develope a red area or rash, we should add ringworm to the list of possibilities. I would say, watch for a few days. If nothing else hanged and Bella still seems happy, and eating well, keep monitoring. If any new signs arise including more bald spots, it’s time to see the vet. Best of luck to you and Bella!

What should I mainly keep watch for when mayboon scratched her eye. Good in morning saw her eye shut in the afternoon when I went in her room to give her treats. Good amount of tears for an half hour, she seemed to calm down and sleep as of rite now.
You need to have Mayboon seen by a vet as soon as possible. Because she scratched her eye, this likely damaged the cornea. Leaving this untreated can and does lead to an ulcer, which in turn can lead to vision loss if the ulcer becomes severe and/or melts. Any eye problem should be checked out by a vet promptly to prevent permanent vision loss from occurring. Please take her into the vet to have her eye examined and treated.

This looks like a corneal ulcer. I would have this checked. He may already be blind in that eye but this can be painful and can become infected. They will stain the eye to see if it’s an ulcer and give Titan medication to heal the cornea. If the eye is chronically painful then you may want to consider removing the eye if he’s blind in that eye. They should be able to tell if he can see anything during their exam. Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Moka. It looks like she may have an injury above that eye. Gently clean it with warm water, and monitor it. If it looks infected, or she rubs at it, you see redness in the eye, or eye discharge, then I would take her into a vet. I hope this helps!

Hello. She is definitely uncomfortable with her eye. It is impossible to say if there is a small lesion on her cornea ( scratch ) or if a small foreign body has worked its way under the third eyelid. She could also have the beginnings of conjunctivitis usually related to an upper respiratory infection. If left untreated, it could get worse, it is hard to say without an exam. If the eye continues to bother her, please have her seen hopefully before any further damage occurs to the eye. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Poor Bella. In one picture, her eyes look open and normal but the other picture they definitely look very irritated, watery, and not all the way open. If she is currently looking like the abnormal picture, then I am highly concerned about her eyes. She could be suffering from severe allergies, conjunctivitis (infection), herpes, or even corneal ulcers. You can try to flush out with artificial tears and give her a Benadryl but if she isn't improving I would have your vet take a look at her. Your vet will be able to determine what the cause is and get her started on the proper meds to help her feel better. I hope this helps.
