My 8-9 year old dog (he’s a rescue) has a wet cough. I’ve researched possible causes, one of which is congestive heart failure. From what I’ve read, the liquid in the lungs causes it. He is not exhibiting any other symptoms of congestive heart failure. He’s active, has a very healthy appetite, and mostly coughs when he’s cold and at night. Should I be concerned?

I would always be concerned about the development of a cough in an older dog. Firstly it could be due to an infection, chest infections can be serious. It could be an inflammatory conditiion such as bronchitis or asthma. Of course it could be a heart issue like you say and there is the possibility of masses also. The best plan would be to go to the vet for sn examination, an xray may be needed to get a diagnosis.
