Why is my cat losing weight, licking, and having mucus stools?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 12 years and 8 months old | 10 lbs

I'm trying to find out what may be wrong with my cat. She has been losing weight drastically over the past few weeks and I'm not sure why. She doesn't seem to be in pain or discomfort but I'm very concerned. She has had a few mucus stools in the past few weeks and at times she seems to be licking a lot. Do you know what may be wrong with her?

This could be caused by a variety of causes including gastrointestinal chronic nutrient malabsorption, endocrine problems (diabetes for example) and others like presence of kidney failure and tumors. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately.
