Why does my healthy gecko curl when eating? Is it swallowing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Gecko | Male | 6 months and 7 days old

My gecko curls to the side when he eats. Is it him swallowing? He seems to be in good health. I give him calcium and d3 + he has a UVB light. He's very active, and he climbs so much.

This may simply be how he eats, especially in the absence of other symptoms. Confirm proper environmental parameters and monitor him. Symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles may include lethargy, decrease or loss of appetite, weight loss, abnormal stool or straining to defecate.
