My pet Budgie is a clumsy fellow, he sucks at flying, and when he lands it can only be called a crashlanding, but this is all fine and i love him, lately he’s been puffed up, either leaning on his cage toys as if he needs support on his perch, he also never bites but i found him making a goose like noise at 03 am tonight and biting literally anything that’s solid, as if it would relieve him of something, its almost if he gurgles the water he drinks to rinse his throat, any ideas before the vet?

Thanks for reaching out about Cactus. Could he be nauseous, trying to regurgitate? Fluffed up is a general sign of illness. Providing heat support in the 80-85 F range can give some aid. If weak, remove perches and place a soft towel on the bottom of the cage for comfort. Ensure that food and water bowls are within reach. Heavy metal toxicity (lead, zinc), metabolic disorders, ingested foreign bodies and infections are all possible. You need to see your veterinarian, to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Good luck.
