Mother cat not caring for her kittens. What's the best way to help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | unspayed | 4 years and 1 month old | 7.716 lbs

Hi my cat Sandy gave to 7 kittens on 18th January. 1 was died and 6 of them are alive now. Nowadays my cat Sandy doesn't stay with the kittens and feed them when they need. 2/3 times in a whole day she feed her kittens. Kittens screamed loudly most of the time when they get hungry or need mother. Some kitten tries to roaming around and screaming. In that time mother cat won't come. What should I do now? Please let me know. Thank You!!

I would move Sandy and her kittens into her own room with a nesting box, and keep the door closed. Make sure she has food, water, and a litter box. This will allow her to focus more closely on her kittens.
