My 10-month puppy is lethargic, in pain, and vet meds aren't working.

Diarrhea and lethargy can be signs of a serious infection, parvovirus, in young puppies. Additionally puppies can become dehydrated and have low body temperature very rapidly. Thank you for using Boop by Petco. You don’t mention what tests the veterinarians have done. Luna should be checked and treated for parasites if found. She may need to be tested for oarvo as well. Many parasites can cause anemia and death in puppies so I recommend a follow up vet visits with diagnostics to find out exactly what is causing her signs. Good luck I hope she’s better soon.

From the sign you are describing it is quite difficult to determine the underlying problem. General signs of lethargy could be commonly due to high temperature which may be related to an infection. In puppies gastrointestinal and urinary tract infections are by far the most common type of infections. If the signs do not resolve in the next 24hours or if Luna is showing any inappetence, more evident lethargy or any other signs (vomiting and diarrhoea for example) I would strongly advice a veterinary check up.

Unfortunately, bloodwork will only tell us part of what is going on internally. Sometimes figuring out what is wrong can require additional testing such as urine samples, x-rays or ultrasounds. You didn't mention Luna's age, but have her listed as unspayed. Depending on when her last heat cycle was, you may want to discus with your veterinarian if she could have been bred or is having a uterine infection. Not eating or drinking is a serious medical problem, so I would strongly recommend contacting your veterinarian for their recommendation on the next diagnostic or treatment steps you can take with Luna to figure out what is going on and how to make her feel better. Poor Luna! She may benefit from intravenous fluids. Have you veterinarian check some bloodwork to see if her liver or kidneys were affected. You may also ask your veterinarian if pain medication would be beneficial. Without being able to examine Luna myself, it's difficult to know how best to advise you. It definitely sounds like Lyra is sick, but her symptoms aren’t consistent with any specific disease process. I would recommend taking her back to the vet. Rechecking lab values will be helpful to see if there are any changes, and IV fluids would be helpful to fight inflammation and dehydration. It is difficult to pinpoint a diagnosis based on these symptoms alone, but some possibilities include pain from an injury, or abdominal pain such as pancreatitis or a gastrointestinal foreign body. I would definitely recommend getting her seen by a vet within the next 24 hours. They can perform a full physical exam to pinpoint any areas of pain, and may recommend blood work or x-rays to help reach a diagnosis. At minimum, they can offer medication for pain, and constipation if present. In the meantime, I would try offering Luna small, frequent meals of a bland diet such as boiled chicken and plain white rice. Also monitor for any vomiting or diarrhea, or any particular areas on her body that seem painful when touched. These will be important pieces of information to provide to the vet when you see them. Has her veterinarian discussed the possibility of an upper respiratory tract infection or the more serious case of pneumonia? She may need antibiotics. I hope this information helps!

This sounds like abdominal pain, or back pain. Since she’s not spayed you need to be concerned about a uterine infection which could cause lethargy and abdominal discomfort. If she has a bulging disk in her back that can cause pain also. I would take her temperature to check for a fever, and if she has a fever or these symptoms continue then please bring her in for an exam and treatment. They will feel to find where she’s painful and may do an X-ray or blood tests to diagnose the problem.
