Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Male | unneutered | 9 years and 8 months old | 101 lbs
my 9.5 year old Rottweiler was diagnosed with diabetes. He currently has 1 meal a day (5:30pm), with insulin after. diet is crock pot chicken breast with carrots/broccoli and topped with raw liver/beef/pork. Have recently stopped grainfree kibble from Diamond dog food because of the possible high carbs. activity level is at least a 20 minute walk a day, sometimes longer, and more on the weekends. My question is should I start feeding him twice a day so he gets insulin every 12hrs?

Hello. Depending on the insulin, yes, it is best to distribute the insulin twice a day to coincide with two meals a day. I just do not think it is appropriate to feed a diabetic dog only once a day. I believe you can get much better control if you divide his total daily calories into 2 meals spaced every 12 hours, & to give the total insulin, also divided into 2 even doses. Of course, I do not know all the particulars about your pet's condition, so please consult your veterinarian for any additional information.
