In a dog Buster's age, this swelling could be due to a tumor. It could also be due to an infection. The only way to know what is causing this is to have him seen by a vet. I'd take him into one in the morning.

I'm not sure by your message, if you are meaning that he is painful in that area where the lump is. That lump could be related to the grooming or just a coincidence.
