Why does my dog have white flakes on his fur even after changing food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 50 lbs

My dog has these white flakes on his fur and we’re not sure what it is. When we went to the pet store we talked to one of the associates and they said they might be allergic to the food we were feeding him, at the time it was chicken, and then we changed it to something else but he still has the flakes so we’re just trying to figure out what it might be.

Please do not take veterinary advice from a pet store employee, they have absolutely on training at all in veterinary medicine. This could be dandruff, which could be due to dry skin. I would have Ayo seen by a vet to have this diagnosed and treated.
