My dog has a corneal ulcer. Are lethargy and falling normal symptoms?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 5 years and 2 months old | 85 lbs

I'm curious about symptoms of corneal ulcer. My dog was diagnosed and is being treated for this. She's in a cone. Since the ulcer, she's been lethargic and even falling to one side like her right front leg gives out sometimes. The ulcer is on the right side. Is this normal? Her appetite is good and she has a follow up with her regular vet next week. Just worried about these new symptoms. Any insight would be appreciated

I have not heard of a dog with a corneal ulcer being lethargic, weak or having their legs give out. I'm not sure what medications she is on but it could be a reaction to one of the medications. I suggest you call your vet for advice since they have her full medical history.
