Why is my cat's nose dry, scabbed, and bleeding? Is it serious?

My cat seemes to be having a cold and a dry nose. The next morning, his entire nose was scabbed up and sore. Today the whole nose itself is scabbed and bleeding. I am wondering if this is a health concern or if he just bashed his nose. Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 3 years and 8 months old | 9 lbs
