My old dog is sick and blind. Is it time to consider euthanasia?

Yes, I would agree that euthanasia is a very valid option is this situation as a full general anaesthetic and multiple extractions of infected teeth in an already unwell dog is likely to make him feel worse and may even create a situation of sepsis further reducing his prognosis

If she is coping with it and otherwise well, I would wait for the blood results as there may be a treatable or manageable medical condition which could improve her quality of life. I typically suggest making a list of five things a dog loved to do; when they no longer do at least two of them, then their quality of life has declined to point where euthanasia should be considered. Given that she is incontinent, blind, can't hear well, stands in a corner and stares, and is losing weight, I would say her quality of life has declined quite a bit and it may be time to let her go peacefully. If it is not time to put her down, I recommend to call your vet and ask about options for that tumor. It could be causing her pain and could be infected. Sometimes antibiotics and a bandage can help the skin to heal at least for a little while and gain some more time for Sweetie. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I recommend starting with an exam by a vet for both dogs. The problems you describe for Ruby can sometimes be treated. It sounds like she may have some arthritis pain which can be managed by medications from your vet. Also, they can discuss getting her teeth cleaned and determine if she is blind. Being blind does not decrease her quality of life- blind dogs can adapt very easily. If it is determined that Ruby should be euthanized, I would not jump to euthanizing Hagrid at the same time.
