Should I worry about a lump on my older cat's head near his ear?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 15 lbs

I just noticed a lump on my cats head just below the ear. He is about 12 years old and it doesn’t seem to bother him at all but I’m a little worried about it

As long as it isn't bothering him, you can monitor it at home. Watch for rapid change or growth or if it causes pain. Your veterinarian can perform a fine needle aspirate to collect samples for pathology. This may identify the lump. Treatment options can be discussed once results are returned.
