Why does my kitten still have soft poop after being treated for worms?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | 5 months and 4 days old | 10 lbs

I have a domestic short hair 5 month old kitten, male about 8-10pounds. He had instential worms and has been treated for it that was about 3 weeks ago. He also had antidiareah medications. It’s been a couple weeks since then and he still has soft poop that isn’t completely solid. I’ve added probiotics to his food and give him half gastrointestinal food and normal food. He drinks water and plays with our other cat fine. Let me know if you have any suggestions of what I can do

I would recommend rechecking a stool sample. Parasites are not consistent shedders so he may also had a different intestinal parasites that the dewormer didn't cover and may need something else. I would recommend another visit to your veterinarian to have them perform a stool sample. I would also recommend a prescription bland diet.
