My older cat keeps throwing up foamy liquid. Is it just a hairball?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 10 years and 5 months old | 8 lbs

So Lily has drank some fluids today but still throwing up foamy liquid from time to time. I read online that it could be a hairball she can't get up. Is there truth to this?

This is true but it can also be an illness. Given she is an older cat, it can also be a sign of something like diabetes, kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, or cancer. That's why she really needs to see a vet asap.
