My senior chihuahua is sick: not eating, pooping blood, falling. Help!

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | neutered | 14 years and 10 months old | 10 lbs

My chihuahua is 14 years old (human years). He stop eating 2 or 3 days ago but he is drinking some water. He is pooping blood. When he walks he can barely do so without almost falling sideways. He sleeps most of the time and only gets up when we take him outside or when he hears me arriving home. Family members are telling me is time to put him a sleep but I’m thorn. Please advice.

It sounds as Peanut is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti nausea injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
