Kitten threw up after dewormer or tuna. Should I call the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

I dewormed my 12wk kitten at 3pm and he threw up around 1am. He vomited 3 times within an hour and a half and then just wanted to be close and has been asleep since peacefully. (SIDE NOTE - My kitten also stole some of my partner's smoked tuna while he was making his lunch today aswell) So my worry is, was it the deworming tablets or the tuna that upset his stomach? Do I need to take him to a vet today? (I am already planning on his 12 week check up with the vet next week).

The deworming treatment can make Happy vomit as a side effect, but the tuna could cause it too. If he's stopped vomiting, you don't have to take him into the vet but if he wakes up and starts vomiting again, he will need to see a vet.
